Video Contest 2012

Calling all TEENS!  Cash prize!!!  Fame and Glory to be won!

Submit an entry to the CSLP 2012 Teen Video Challenge, a contest that promotes public libraries and summer reading.

The Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP) and YALS (Young Adult Librarians of NH) are sponsoring the “2012 Teen Video Challenge," a national video competition for teens to get involved with reading and their public library's summer reading program.

Teens across the country are invited to create a 30 to 90 second video with their unique interpretation of the 2012 teen slogan “Own the Night” in combination with reading and libraries. This is an opportunity for teens to showcase their creativity and have their ideas heard before a national audience.  The winning video from each participating state will be named one of the CSLP 2012 Teen Videos to promote summer reading nationwide.

$275 will be awarded to the creators of the winning state video, and their associated public library will receive prizes worth $150 from CSLP and Upstart. Winners will be announced by CSLP in spring 2012. The deadline for NH teens to submit their entries is March 12, 2012

We need YOUR expertise!

Reading this on your smart phone? Did you notice that we now have a version formatted especially for viewing on mobile devices? (Let me know what you think: I can't test it... yet.)

We are also looking for a few teens (well, anyone aged 11-18) who would be willing to help plan the summer reading program for 2012. The teen theme is "Own the Night", and we have some ideas for programs... but we really want your input. The advisory/planning group will meet once before mid-January, and then again in March or April, and maybe a final meeting in May. Call or email the library if you'd like to help.

And while I've got your attention... what is the best way to get your attention? Email? Texting? Phone calls? Blog? Snail mail? Facebook? Give us some feedback. Thanks!!!

Summer Reading... some are not.

Hey teens!  If you've been keeping a log of the books you've read this summer, don't forget to bring it to the Library when you come.  We will check off what you've read so far and add it to the tally.  We've got a long way to go if Mrs. D is going to kiss a pig.

I hope you've been enjoying the "Teen Time" activities on Thursday nights.  This coming week (Aug 4) we will be doing family trees.  Bring names and birth dates of your siblings, parents, and grandparents (and great grandparents if you know them).  We will begin to fill in a pedigree chart and family group sheet, and I'll share some tips on searching for your ancestors.
